HISTORY:
Padworth College is a small sixth form international boarding college, offering a highly personalised education, preparing students, aged 14 to 19 years, from all over the world, for entry to universities globally.
Established in 1963, Padworth College has helped thousands of students from the UK and overseas achieve academic results to gain entry to high ranking Universities in the UK. A significant proportion (80%) of students come from overseas, with over 30 different nationalities represented.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR:
Their Enrichment Programme includes a varied programme of sport, social and recreational activities and trips throughout the week, as well as regular excursions every weekend. The programme is designed to foster team spirit and confidence and to provide opportunities for students to add value to their university applications.
ENGLISH SUPPORT:
Padworth College is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English to international students in the UK, under the Accreditation UK Scheme. The College’s EAL programme is delivered by a dedicated team of three EAL teachers, with EAL classes embedded within the curriculum. IELTS classes are provided for all international students.
SIZE:
A commitment to realising academic potential and finding the right career pathways for the individual Small class sizes (average 8-10). A diverse international community, with the student body made up of up to 30 nationalities.
POST-16 QUALIFICATIONS:
Their A Level programme is taught over two years (September start) and 18 months (January start). There is also the option for students to transfer to Padworth for the final year of A Levels, provided there is alignment with subjects studied in Year 2.
Starting every September, the NCUK International Foundation Year (IFY) Programme is an intensive one-year course designed to enable international students to progress on to study at a range of top UK universities.
PRE-16 QUALIFICATIONS:
The College offers GCSEs over one or two years, a two-year and 18 month The average class size is 8-10 students.
GCSEs represent the first step on the pathway towards a UK university. Padworth College’s GCSE programme is taught over periods of one and two years, commencing in September.
ACCOMMODATION:
They provide the opportunity to board on a full-time, weekly or flexible basis, with high quality pastoral support, promoting independence and aiding the transition to university.
Their school is essentially a boarding community with a global perspective. We welcome students from all over the world and celebrate cultural diversity. Their day students are an integral part of this community and enjoy the benefits of having time and space to develop their skills, interests and friendships.
Their Principal, Deputy Principal also live on site, as well as the residential house staff who provide outstanding medical help and care if ever needed. This is complemented by full medical support from the local doctor’s surgery and by healthy and nutritious meal choices from our on-site chefs.
PASTORAL:
Being a small school, students and staff have the opportunity to get to know each other really well. Visitors often remark on the unique atmosphere they encounter at Padworth and the relaxed, informal relationships they witness between staff and students.
Each student is treated as an individual and their motivation and well-being is the top priority for their team who are always ready to offer advice and support. They place great importance on caring for our students and supporting them in all aspects of their lives at the College. Their aim is to create a happy and secure environment with an atmosphere which is relaxed and yet purposeful, where the needs of the individual are recognised and respected.
