Aston University is based in the centre of Birmingham which has a population of over 1 million people. Birmingham is a vibrant, multicultural city with many theatres, art galleries and places of interest. Birmingham has its own international airport which has direct flights to many international locations both inside and outside the EU. The temperature in Birmingham drops to an average of 4-5 degrees centigrade in December/January and 17 degrees in July. Birmingham is situated in the heart of England and is about 118 miles from London.
Aston become a university in 1966, but can date its history back to 1875. Its 1966 University charter focus was on industry links and the value of the ‘sandwich’ degree, acknowledging that time spent in industry or off campus was of value to students. This approach is still very much part of Aston’s ethos today.
Aston is situated in the heart of Birmingham and is largely focused on a 40 acre city centre campus, including the Student Village, housing extensive accommodation. The Campus is 10 minutes walk from Birmingham city centre. Birmingham has over 65,000 students studying in the city as a whole.
Aston university is ranked between 351-400 in the Times Higher Education World university rankings. It is not ranked by the Shanghai Jaio Tong university. It is not a member of the Russell Group of universities.

Dozens of societies and sports clubs operate at Aston. Recently upgraded sports facilities include a gym and swimming pool. Racquet sports also catered for with squash and racquetball courts.
Extensive student accommodation is available on campus within the Student Village. Accommodation is payable by term and is all self catering. Accommodation tends to be within shared flats, but the rooms are generally en suite with shared kitchen facilities. Accommodation is guaranteed for all 1st year students and for all years of study for international students.
The lowest price for a single room with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities is £121.10 per week.
There is no catered university accommodation.
International undergraduate tuition fee examples – BA or BSc:
Fees for full time undergraduate courses start at £14,300 for subjects such as Sociology & Social Policy rise to £14,950 for Psychology and up to £37,000 for Medicine.
International postgraduate taught tuition fee examples – MA or MSc:
Full time masters (taught) postgraduate course fees start at £14,100 for Sociology & Social Research, rise to £17,550 for Mechanical Engineering and £25,850 for a full time MBA.

Aston currently does not offer any undergraduate online degrees, but does offer a significant number of online masters programmes, including an internationally accredited online MBA.
