HISTORY:
St David's College is an independent, boarding and day, middle and high school occupying Gloddaeth Hall in Llanrhos, Llandudno, north Wales. The school was founded by John Mayor in 1965 with the aim of offering a whole-person education based on Christian principles and outdoor education.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR:
St David's prides itself on its Extracurricular programme which is delivered through a diverse activity programme and Outdoor Education department. Around five expeditions leave site each week as part of a true outdoor education, with opportunities for every pupil to get involved including; sailing, kayaking, climbing and caving. The focus is very much on developing leadership, confidence and teamworking skills. Other clubs offered include: KIT car building, silent flight, wakeboarding, chess club, F1 in Schools, Round Table public speaking competition, 4x4 driving on the School’s woodland track, shooting on the School’s rifle range, capoeira, martial arts and photography.
ENGLISH SUPPORT:
EAL-pupils from overseas can be taught English by Specialist Support teachers with qualifications in teaching English as a second language. The College offers ESL iGCSE and IELTS qualifications. Pupils are assessed by the EAL teacher on arrival at school and their lesson allocation is adjusted accordingly. Lessons can vary in number and size depending upon the preferences and the needs of the pupil.
SIZE:
36 pupils are international students and all these pupils board at the school alongside an additional 74 boarders from the UK.

St David’s offers a wide selection of exam options including; GCSE’s, B-TEC, level 2 and 3, A Levels and an HND (Higher National Diploma) course in Computer Aided Design and Draughting (CADD). The College offers ESL iGCSE and IELTS qualifications. Lessons can vary in number and size depending upon the preferences and the needs of the pupil.

ACCOMMODATION:
Boarding is offered on a full-time basis, although some boarders choose to go home on occasional weekends.
PASTORAL:
They provide every pupil with a safe and caring environment to give them the freedom to flourish.
The Headmaster, tutors, house staff, academic staff, and medical staff all play a front-line role in the pastoral care of pupils and can be contacted at any time by parents with concerns or questions.
SEN:
The Cadogan Centre at St David’s College is a global leader in the delivery of education to pupils with barriers to learning. The centre has expertise in assessing and understanding pupils needs. St David’s has four fully-equipped areas dedicated to student needs: The Cadogan Centre, The James Webb SENCO rooms, The Solar Rooms and The Bridge Therapy Suite. The Centre has twenty Specialist Support Teachers delivering nearly 500 bespoke 1:1 lessons every week.
All pupils are assigned an Individual Specialist who will assess their needs, create an Individual Programme, monitor academic progress and provide a level of pastoral support and 1 to1 sessions. The specialist teachers liaise with subject teachers to ensure consistency and to act as readers and/or writers during prep sessions, examinations etc.
