HISTORY:
The University of Chichester, has a long history of higher education, dating back to 1839 when it was originally a College for Education. The College became a University in 1999 and celebrated its 180th anniversary in 2019. The size of the University provides an inclusive, personalised community experience. Students are known by name and are supported in small teaching groups, and led by research active staff.
RANKING:
Chichester was voted the UK’s 25th best university, according to students (National Student Satisfaction survey 2021) The University of Chichester is one of the UK’s top-30 universities, according to the Guardian University Guide 2021 and top 50 according to the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide (2021).
INTERNATIONAL:
Currently about 5% of Chichester's students are international with a growth plan to raise this to 10% of the total student population by 2025.
SIZE:
Chichester's total student population is approximately 5500 with 80% UG and 20% PG.
The University is in a period of growth and is expanding our PG portfolio and so in future the overall student population is expected to increase to 7,000 by 2025 with a higher percentage of PG students.
FACILITIES:
Both campuses offer a mix of historic buildings interspersed with modern teaching spaces & equipment.Social & sporting and cultural activities beyond the classroom are organised by the Students Union and other social facilities include; coffee shops, restaurants and picturesque outdoor spaces on campus.Sports is core to the University of Chichester and students can enjoy facilities such as; football, rugby, and astroturf pitches, running track & climbing wall.
