The house and estate were privately owned until the early 20th Century and were first put on sale in 1913. Frederick Noel Hamilton Wills purchased the village and houses in 1918 and alongside J H Simpson as Headmaster, Noel Wills opened the school for twelve boys in June 1920. Girls were introduced into Rendcomb College's Sixth Form in 1972 and the school became fully co-educational in 1992. The Junior School was opened in 2000 and the Nursery opened in 2005.

Academic performance Rendcomb College is delighted to celebrate the success of its Sixth Form pupils following the release of the 2025 A-Level results. With 33% of pupils achieving A*-A grades and 59% securing A*-B, this year's cohort has truly embodied the school's core value of being Ambitious, demonstrating drive, determination, and a commitment to excellence.
Boarding accommodation We have two houses for pupils aged 11-13, one for boys, The Old Rectory, and one for girls, Godman House. The Houseparents of these houses are supported by a group of tutors, some of whom live in accommodation in the House. For girls and boys aged 14-16, we again have separate houses, Lawn House (boys) and Stable House (girls). The Sixth form are in Park House, our co-educational boarding house for girls and boys. Sixth Form boys and girls share a common room and kitchen area, but have separate boarding wings for their study-bedrooms.
Pastoral care Rendcomb has a strong house and tutor system which ensures that pupils receive the appropriate support where necessary to enable them to develop into an adult who is confident, tolerant and caring. Pastoral care is imbedded through our House structure. One of the successes of the pastoral care on offer is that Boarding and Day pupils are fully integrated.
Extra-curricular activities Rendcomb curriculum extends well beyond the confines of the classroom and the core teaching day. Our small size enables all students to participate in a number of sports two afternoons a week, in addition to a wide range of activities, over 100, which begin after the end of formal lessons each day. Our philosophy is to consider these to be co-curricular, aimed at combining with the academic elements to genuinely develop the whole person and ensure that we provide a fully-rounded education.
General school facilities Rendcomb has embarked on an ambitious 10 year development phase. More recently we have refurbished our Science Laboratories which now reach the gold standard of teaching, installed new bathrooms to our boarding houses, new dorms in the girls junior boarding house, four new tennis courts, a newly refurbished Reception, new car park, installed a gym and in February 2017 we opened our new 3.3 million pound Performing Arts Centre, The Griffin Centre which houses a 350 seater auditorium, dance studio, hospitality suite and Drama classroom.

A Day in the Life of

"We are an American Military Family and have all three of our children enrolled at Rendcomb College. Firstly, what drew us to Rendcomb was the absolute beautiful setting. The other main reason for choosing Rendcomb was the small class sizes. We wanted to make sure that our children were not "overlooked" in a larger class or school. We had a meeting with the Headmaster who was very understanding and helpful. After talking with him we were sure Rendcomb was the right fit for our children. We will be at the school for our third year and love it. Our children have developed positively in every aspect. Every staff member at Rendcomb is very helpful, we feel that our children are very well cared for." - Mrs S Clarke "My wife collected Natalie from Rendcomb on Saturday. We want to express an enormous heartily thank you for your care, warmth, presence and guidance to our daughter during this year, which will remain to be a most valuable and wonderful experience for her." - Mr and Mrs J Enzelmueller (Germany) "Rendcomb was recommended to us by a German agent, and from day one it was the perfect choice. Greta joined Rendcomb at the age of 15 and her stay was initially planned for one year only. But Rendcomb very rapidly became such an essential part of her life which has contributed so tremendously to her personal development, that we decided to add another two years and let her stay on for sixth form to do her A-Levels. At Rendcomb, Greta learnt to learn, gained great work ethics and discipline, she found most talented teachers who were personally interested in her development, and she made close friendships in a great community. More importantly, she gained self confidence and took responsibility for numerous projects and extracurricular activities she lead or participated in. Being asked to serve as Headgirl in her last year at Rendcomb was a great honour for her and she really tried hard to meet the high expectations. It is my firm belief that Greta will benefit from her years in Rendcomb for the rest of her life." - Dr G Weidenfeld (Germany) "We are immensely grateful for all you did for Carolin. She was in very good hands with you, and she really enjoyed her stay at Rendcomb. Indeed, she was very, very sad to leave. As parents, we are of course proud of you praising her so much. Thank you again for everything!" - Dr C Teipel-Jager
