St Michael Abbey School is a co-educational day and boarding school for students aged 13 to 19, offering Immersion, GCSE, A-level and University Foundation courses.

Location Located within 22 acres of beautiful Worcestershire countryside, St Michael Abbey School is on the border of Shropshire and Herefordshire. The neighbouring towns of Tenbury Wells and Ludlow offer a picturesque and tranquil setting to allow students to concentrate on their studies. While at the same time, the school is within a short distance of other local cities, such as Birmingham, providing an ideal location for both study and social activities.
History of the School St Michael Abbey has been a prestigious educational facility since it was purpose-built in 1856. First founded as music school for boys, it later became an important facility in an internationally recognised college group. Today, we are proud to begin a new chapter in the school's history as an independent establishment.

Boarding accommodation Boarding at St Michael Abbey is a home away from home. Our four boarding houses offer modern and comfortable living with shared communal areas, beautiful views across the school site and over the countryside beyond. Mixed age houses allow boarders to integrate, with access to house prefects and buddies. A separated Sixth Form house ensures that each student can access care and support, appropriate to their individual developmental needs and in preparation for living independently.
Pastoral care Well-being is a golden thread that runs through St Michael Abbey School, developing a culture of meaningfulness, purpose and belonging. Through well-being lessons, PSHE, meditation and reflection students have many opportunities to connect with themselves, connect with others and to connect with the world around them, learning key tools that can support them for the rest of their lives. St Michael Abbey School endeavours to ensure students can access pastoral and medical support. Through our student services department, students have access to well-being leads, school counselling, an on-site nurse and SEND provision.
Extra-curricular activities Sport and team games play a key role in physical and mental development, and at SMA School there is plenty to choose from when the school day is over. Alongside sporting activities, students can also participate in theatre, music and societies which appeal to a variety of interests and passions. SMA School also runs a Duke of Edinburgh Award program.

A Quick Summary Opened in September 2025, St Michael Abbey School caters for both UK and international students. The school has a capacity of 200 students, 120 of which are designated for boarding.
