HISTORY:
Malvern St James Girls’ School (MSJ) is a day and boarding school for girls aged 4-18. With around 400 pupils, including 160 boarders, we get to know individual talents and interests, ensuring pupils are each supported to achieve their personal goals and ambitions. Approximately 30% of pupils are international, with boarders accepted from age 7 (Year 3). We do not have a Saturday school or enforced exeats.
At MSJ everything is totally geared for girls; there are no barriers or gender stereotyping. Girls can pursue their passions and interests in the field of their choice, it may be medicine, engineering, politics, sports or expressive arts – all routes are equal. At both GCSE and A Level, our results are outstanding with excellent value added. At A Level (2021), 75% of awards were at A*-A and 90% were A*-B. Girls also achieved superb GCSE results (2021) with 74% of entries awarded 9-7/A*-A grades. The diverse list of undergraduate courses at the most prestigious universities which follow are testament to MSJ’s culture of ambition and achievement.
Not only are pupils challenged academically, they have the opportunity to explore over 100 extra-curricular activities to find what inspires them. From Drama to Law Society, Young Enterprise and Model United Nations, there is something available for everyone. Additionally, girls gain leadership experiences across the school as Form Captains, Digital Leaders, Subject Ambassadors, Eco-champions, Heads of Houses, Sports Champions, Prefects and the Head Girl Team. Our sports provision is superb and includes a wide variety of options including: equestrian, netball, lacrosse, hockey, tennis, swimming, dance, athletics, cricket to name but a few.
Supported by award winning pastoral care, boarding and day pupils can thrive in a safe and nurturing environment which puts each individual at its heart. EAL group support is provided to senior pupils at no additional cost, including IELTS classes for Sixth Form pupils.
