Culford Summer School cater for all language
levels, and offer a bespoke placement test on arrival to place you in the best environment for your language learning. Our teachers are highly-qualified and have a range of experience teaching inside the UK and outside. Lessons are centered
around the communicative principles of teaching, allowing students to learn English through discovery and improve their mastery of the language through relevant
contextual and task-based learning.
History
Culford Summer School is operated directly by Culford School, an independent day and boarding school for students
aged 1-18. The Summer School offers English language and multi-activity courses for international students aged 12-17, with excursions to top destinations in the East of England, including London, Cambridge and Norwich.
Sports
Culford School is one of the best schools in the UK for
Tennis and Golf provision. We have an incredible team of professional coaches who work with our students all year round. The specialisms that we offer in the summer take advantage of this highly-experienced, professional coaching team. The school has 6 indoor tennis courts, 6 outdoor tennis courts, a driving range for golf, a short
play area, and an indoor trackman studio. The school also offers a tennis and horse riding specialism.
Accommodation
Culford School is comprised of four senior school
boarding houses, and one prep school boarding house. The senior school houses are used for the summer and comprise a variety of double, triple, and dorm-style rooms. Most of the rooms are shared between two people with a shared bathroom, usually between two rooms. This encourages students to mix with new people from a variety of different cultural and national backgrounds, and allows them to put in to use their English language skills.
Specialisms
Culford Summer School offers bespoke small group coaching sessions
in four different specialist sports; tennis, golf, football, and horse riding. These
sessions take place 4 times a week (8 times per two week course) and allow
students to have the support of a highly-experienced coach with top qualifications. Through these personalized sessions, students see vast improvements in their chosen specialism. For those not wanting to specialize in one thing, our summer sports specialism (included in the course fees) offers a variety of different sports and activities to try.
Excursions
Memories are made as much at Culford as they are in the cities surrounding it. The summer programme takes students to the ancient university town of Cambridge, where they get to try their hand at punting, to see the massive spires of Norwich Cathedral and explore the medieval market town, and of course to the nation’s capital, London, where students get to see first-hand all the exciting things they’ve read about or seen in textbooks, videos, and photos.
Green Space
In addition to all the amazing sports facilities at Culford School, such
as the tennis courts, swimming pool, all-weather astro pitch, and countless sports’ fields, Culford is home to 480 acres of green, leafy Suffolk parkland. It is the perfect playground for students to explore and enjoy the summer. The ancient oak tree at the centre of Culford, The King of the Park, is nearly 500 years old! Can you find it?
