HISTORY: Northampton is one of the youngest universities in the UK. Its new Waterside campus opened in 2018. In 1924 Northampton technical college was established and in 1975 the Northampton college of education, technology and art came together to form Nene college. Nene college later incorporated St Andrews school of Occupational Therapy and Sir Gordon Roberts College of Nursing and Midwifery. The university was established in 2005.
LOCATION: Waterside campus is located on the River Nene and surrounded by green spaces, such as Beckett's Park and Delapre Park.Waterside campus is 1 mile out of the centre of Northampton, which can be walked in 20 minutes or there is a regular bus service which takes 14 minutes. Scholars Green Student Village is 4.5 miles from Waterside campus. There is a regular bus service from Scholars Green to Waterside which takes 40 minutes.
RANKING: Northampton is not ranked in the Times Higher Education World rankings. It is not ranked in the Shanghai Jiao Tong rankings and is not a member of the Russell Group of universities.Northampton is ranked 136th in the National Student Survey Satisfaction rankings.

FACILITIES: In 2014 Northampton became the first Student Union in the country to provide free societies. There are a broad range of societies from Anime to Future Leaders to the Coffee Morning Society. At the Waterside campus there is the Learning Hub library, the Engine Shed (café and social space) and the art shop. In the town centre there is the university owned Platform Club and The Innovation Centre, which is home to some of the performance courses. Waterside campus also includes a sports zone including a full 3G pitch, 3 multi use game areas and a weatherproof sports dome. Sports offered include archery, basketball, boxing, cheerleading, climbing, dance, football, hockey, lacrosse, netball, rugby, swimming, tennis, volleyball and more.
ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation is available at Waterside campus (the largest halls of residence), in the Town Centre and at Scholars Green Student Village.All the accommodation options are self-catering. Single and twin rooms are offered with shared bathrooms or en-suites, and include halls facilities e.g. WIFI, 24-hour security.The cheapest accommodation is located at Scholars Green Student Village at £95 per week, which includes a single room with en-suite facilities including shower, wash basin and toilet, and access to a communal kitchen (en-suite rooms at Scholar's Green are cheaper than a non en-suite single room at the Waterside accommodation).A room in the Halls of Residence is guaranteed for all new, full time, first year students.
COST: International students International undergraduate tuition fees: Fees for full time undergraduate courses start at £13,000 for most BA and BScs. Occupational therapy costs £14,000 per year, and Nursing costs £15,900.

ONLINE COURSES: The University run some distance learning courses. Undergraduate degrees included Lift Engineering FdSc and HNC, Non-Destructive Testing FdSc and Business and Management (Top-Up) BA.
